Al Amerat (Sports Desk): Co-hosts Oman has convincingly beat Papua New Guinea by 10 wickets in the opening match of the 2021 Men’s T20 World Cup.

Oman chased the 130-run goal in 13.4 overs after restricting PNG to 129/9. Jatinder Singh hit flawlessly for her unbeaten 42-ball 73. She hit seven fours and four sixes.

On the other hand, Aqib Ilyas played his part in the running chase by scoring 43 balls 50 *. He hit five four and one six.

Previously, Captain Zeeshan Maqsood was the protagonist of Oman, as he took four wickets for just 20 races. Bilal Khan and Kaleemullah also took two windows each.

PNG captain Assad Vala was rescued next to him after they were fighting at 0/2. He was paired with Charles Amini and added 81 runs. Assad scored 56 of 43 balls, the first fifty of the competition, while Charles made 37 of 26 balls.

It should be noted that eight teams are competing in Round 1 of the competition. They are divided into two groups and the top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super 12, starting on October 23.
