The fifth season of the Tamil Nadu Premier League 2021 is set to begin after two years in Chennai starting today. Played annually since 2016, TNCA (Tamil Nadu Cricket Association) was unable to host the competition last due to the worldwide COVID-19 outbreak.
In the official statement, TNCA had revealed that it had its eyes set on a position in November 2020 or March 2021 to hold the tournament, but it was not due to the global pandemic.
Having said that, the impending season will once again provide ample opportunities for Tamil Nadu cricketers as there is no hiding the fact that many scouts in the Indian Premier League have their eyes on the tournament.
The first match of TNPL 2021 will be played between Lyca Kovai Kings (coached by Shahrukh Khan) and Salem Spartans (coached by Daryl Ferrario) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Starting this weekend, the tournament will also feature doubles until the last league game on August 8.

Star Sports Network has acquired the rights to telecast TNPL 2021 in India. Fans can catch the live action from TNPL 2021 on Star Sports 2 & Star Sports 2 HD.
One can also watch the match in Tamil as Star Sports Tamil will telecast all matches of the Tamil Nadu Premier League 2021.
However, Disney+ Hotstar will live stream TNPL 2021, and fans will need to purchase a subscription to watch the matches.
