Royal Challengers Bangalore have provided the much-awaited update as former team captain Virat Kohli joined the camp ahead of the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Posting a photo of his arrival on their social media on Monday, the team wrote, “King Kohli has arrived! That’s it. That’s the news. Follow CricsGuru.IN for more updates.
Virat Kohli, who led the franchise for the last nine editions, relinquished the captaincy from him after last year’s IPL. He will now play under the captaincy of former South African cricketer Faf du Plessis.

Faf du Plessis, who played for Chennai Super Kings until last year, was bought by RCB for Rs 7 crore during the auction. With the pressure of the captaincy no longer on his shoulders, Kohli, who is experiencing a drop in his form, will look to focus on his hitting and get his form back and contribute to the team’s success.
Earlier, Du Plessis also said that Kohli as a player is always important to the team.
“Even if he (Kohli) is not the captain, that energy that he brings to himself and to the team is very important to us. We will try to use that as best we can.”
Kohli was retained by the franchise for Rs 15 crore before the auction along with Glenn Maxwell and Mohammad Siraj. The team also bought the likes of Dinesh Karthik, Harshal Patel, Wanindu Hasaranga and Josh Hazlewood at the auction. RCB are yet to win a single IPL title and are hoping for a change of fortunes under new skipper Faf du Plessis.

The franchise will kick off the season on March 27, Sunday against the Punjab Kings at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
